Adventure races!
Here is a photo of us before http://warriordash.com/ in Michigan

The race was a lot of fun there was a great party and an awesome band playing afterwards. Our members have participated in several charity 5k's this year and our speed demon Jason Kessler has even won a few. These races are a little different, not your standard 5K but definitely a lot of fun. We have close to a dozen running The Warrior Dash again in Carrellton, Ohio.
There are other races that are similar tougher or easier we only encourage you to participate. Please contact us with any type of fitness events, we like to compete in everything from powerlifting to running and everything in between. Below are some of the other events we may be competing in.

While opinions differ the science goes either way depending on what source you quote. Listed below is a fairly objective piece, like anything research it yourself. I like them if your interested in them one great piece of advice I received was to get the socks or they will end up stinking it up.

Fran on Fire
The featured video is a popular CrossFit workout named "Fran" if you have never tried it you should give it a go. Do not try this workout wearing your gear unless you have conditioned for it. Wearing your gear for a workout is a great way to mimic the strenuous activity of "battling the beast".

Police and Fire Games 2010

The following videos are from the "O" course, we had four competitors. Al Bagdonas had the best division time for us, unfortunately he got into a fight with the tire. Note in his video when he takes a shot to the grill but keeps on truckin' nice work.

Friends of ours
Several members of Local 3331 follow the crossfit training methodology if you are not familiar with crossfit you should definitely check it out. Crossfit is used by many fire departments, elite military units and even some police departments. The training prepares you for the unexpected. Through Crossfit we have established a relationship with http://www.roguefitness.com/. The Rouge HQ out of Columbus has provided us with incredible equipment at great prices. They also provide us with a place to train when we are in the Columbus area for training. They also have a facility in Toledo which we have occasional competitions with http://www.roguetoledo.com/. If you are considering a career in fire, military or police consider using crossfit and if you need a place to train definitely check them outFriday, August 14, 2009

Police and Fire Games '09
We would like to congratulate Pat Fleming for his participation in this years Police and Fire Games. This is Pats third year in the games with some great past performances. In the '06 games he received 4 silver medals. In the '07 games he was unfortunatley injured with a really, really bad ankle injury (details to gruesome to mention). He bounced back and received a gold and a silver medal in the '08 games. The '09 games has been his best performance thus far. Pat received 4 gold medals and a trophy for best raw lifter which basically means he did not use any performance enhancing lifting suits or other gear. The four gold medals were in the Bench, Squat, Deadlift and the all around. Way to go Pat!
Pat is our resident Fitness guru and the author of this Blog. Be sure to check back later for articles, photos, links, and videos, on the "fitness" subject and how it can be used in the fire service and for everyday use.
